JSR-82

Hello everyone....
                    I am new to Bluetooth and planning to do a project in Robotics. I have a robot (with built-in bluetooth module) which I can control using a software provided by the Robot Vendor through Bluetooth port of my laptop and that of the robot.
           Now can I use the Java API for Bluetooth and program to control the robot using the bluetooth h/w on my laptop ?

PS : This may seem a fairly simple question. But I am a novice to this field. Thank you for your valuable time.
