Hey,

What are the max bluetooth ranges with cell phones right now? Is there a difference in range between various devices? Or are all phones pretty much 'Class 2' with only the standard 10m range?

Also, there are dongles for laptops that extend bluetooth range to 'Class 1'(about 100m) but are there 'dongles' for phones that can boost the standard range?

Can anyone help me? I can seem to find a lot of reference material and I dread having to go in and listen to the teenager at the store in the mall.

Thx in advance,
James

while testing with various bluetooth phones i've found the range varying between 20 to 50 feet. i think it's dependent on the bluetooth hardware in the phone. i haven't come across dongles which can be used with phones. but the idea sounds good.

Interesting!  I now notice that indeed there ARE class-I (longer range) dongles
on NewEgg.com for under $20!  I'll be getting one in the next month or so.

Any specific advice on which models might be better?
